SF Gays Rally for Iran's Democracy;
June 18, 5 - 6 PM, Harvey Milk Plaza

Once was not enough. Great as it was to be privileged to stand with Iranian-Americans yesterday at Union Square and show solidarity with the street protesters and democrats in Iran, I feel much more can and should be done.

That is why I am organizing a small, symbolic action at Harvey Milk Plaza for Thursday. As a community organizer who has staged protests at the plaza over Iran's hanging of two gay teenagers in Mashad in 2005, I believe the site is very appropriate for LGBT and all citizens for an action tomorrow.

I'm purchasing all shades of green ribbons and tape, and plan to distribute pieces of them, suitable for wearing as a wristband or as a lapel ribbon, a la the AIDS red ribbon. I will ask anyone planning to attend the ribbon-distribution and rally to wear a green piece of clothing, and bring any signs or photos about the situation in Iran today.

Please join me in this important act of friendship and solidarity with the democratic-loving people of Iran. Wear green to the action. Need more info on what is happening inside Iran? Read Andrew Sullivan's blog to learn what the mainstream media ain't covering.

Here's the info:

WHAT: Green Solidarity Ribbon Distribution and Rally

WHO: Gays Without Borders/SF

WHY: Support Iranian Democracy

WHERE: Harvey Milk Plaza

WHEN: Thursday, June 18

TIME: 5 - 6 pm

Watch this video, and bear witness to the horrific murder of student, and please find a way to either be at the San Francisco rally tomorrow, attend a rally in your area, or simply write about the situation in Iran on your blog and show your readers photos and videos from over there.
